Ayton is an attractive village in the East Berwickshire part of the Scottish Borders with a population of just over 500.

The A1 trunk road ran through the village until a bypass was built in the 1980s.

We have a primary school with around 80 pupils and a really well stocked village shop.

The village had a branch of the RBS until it was closed in October 2015. The village now has a weekly visit from a mobile RBS brach on Friday mornings.

The last pub in the village (the Black Bull) closed several years ago and reopened in 2015 as the Hemelvaart Bier Café

The Post Office visit the village shop twice a week for a couple of hours on Mondays and Thursdays

Within a mile of the village we have the beautiful Ayton Castle, built in the 1850s Scottish Baronial style. The grounds are open for walking and in the season a narrow gauge railway operates.
